I came here today to try their wonton noodle soup after reading some reviews, since I usually try a new place every week or so. We got here a little after 1pm, and there a few other customers there already. The place is reasonably small. It had a green theme to it.

Like others have mention, the menu is small and I don’t mind that at all. We started off with the “salmon nori roll” which consist of salmon in the center, noodles wrap all around, and spring roll wrap & seaweed on the outside. I was expecting rice to be used instead of noodles, but I guess it’s Asian fusion. The salmon roll was $3.95, it’s probably something I wont order again.

We order the wonton forest noodle soup ($5.95) and the shrimp wonton noodles soup ($6.95). Both were good, the only differences I notice with both are the wontons. The regular one had a mixture of pork and shrimp and the shrimp wonton noodles were just shrimp mixture. They both came with 4 wontons, green onion, veggies, slices of pork, and half of an egg. They were good, but I can’t imagine anyone able to screw up wonton noodle soup especially when it’s just chicken soup base, wontons, veggies, & green onions.

I personally like wonton time better, but that place close down awhile ago. I wouldn’t make the drive down from Rosemead, personally because ABC cafe offers wonton noodle soup for $2.99.

I order the pork miso ramen and my boyfriend order the Nanchatte combo (2 pieces of potato croquette & your choice of pink calpico or ramune) The flavor of both broths were decent, and the noodles were just okay. But I still consider there are better ramen houses out there, in terms of taste and price.

They do offer a huge selection of different types of ramen and appetizers! And we did order the fried sword fish, which was pretty yummy! That and the potato croquette was the only items I was satisfy with!

Definitely not worth a second trip!

Yes, this place is overated but its worth a try once if you visit or even live in Los Angeles. It’s LA’s landmark. It’s something you got to do at least once, try their famous hot dogs. They are open late nights, so after clubbing or the bar you can hop on over and get yourself a hot dog!

They freshly made your order once you order. There hotdogs are large, cheap, and come in almost any variation. Inside they have a wall of portraits of celebrities, and seatings are uncomfortable. Your typical plastic patio chairs and tables.

Complaints
[ x ] the line is long, especially if you visit at night. During the day the line is much shorter!
[ x ] parking is always a problem in LA, so it is here. Watch out for street signs if you park outside. Once my friend got a ticket for parking outside without a permit!

They switch over to Cool Mountain peach soda. Not as good as the old one.

Why did they have to get rid of Nehi Peach soda? It was the bomb!

I absolutely love the chicken here! Kyo Chon Chicken is like the Korean KFC.

Since my friend was still hungry after eating the Dan Dan Noodles from No. 1 Noodle House, we headed over next door to eat. We order eight pieces of chicken for 7.99. Since yelp users recommend the Garlic soy sauce. They offer two flavors, the other one is hot sweet sauce.

The shop is small, offers only to go but there are seats available outside in the patio. Plenty of chairs and tables shared among the other restaurants in the area.

The chicken is crispy, fresh from the fryer, and delicious! Every bite is flavorful. The flavor is perfectly marinade into the chicken. The flavor is not overwhelming, but just right.

The down side of Kyo Chon are:
- the waiting time is an average of 15 minutes
- It’s about $1 for a piece of a chicken. overpriced for small pieces of chicken.
- The pieces are tiny, don’t expect the gigantic pieces you get from the American KFC.

Prices for chicken. They also offer Bento Lunches until 3pm.

They provide you with one of these when you order, just in case you want to go walk around the area.

I love the packaging.

The tasty, delicious pieces of chicken. Of course, this couldn’t fill up anyone. Great for a snack!

After a lot of great reviews from yelp users. I decided to try a local favorite. So what to eat?

The beef noodle soup is well known dish and apparently a lot of yelp users love it there! After trying it, maybe with my high expectations it didn’t turn out as well as I thought. It was good, but not great. The soup was flavorful, not overwhelming with spices. (you can tell them how hot you like it.) ($6-7 price range)

Another dish I order was the Don Don noodles. Its a small bowl that comes with noodles with sauce.  First bite into the noodles, it had a strong peanut flavor to it. Very simple, flavorful, saucy dish. It’s not dry, but wet base.  I wouldn’t recommend it as a main dish, especially if your hungry. The bowl of noodles is small! ($5-6 price range)

The restaurant is tiny, and there is only one table available inside. There’s also outdoor seating as well. The store is small, with a huge pictures of what they served, and they also have a menu available.

In my opinion, I give this place 3 Stars!

I came with two friends, and order the Guppy Special which includes: Small Shaved Iced with Strawberries, Sweet Butter Toast, and popcorn chicken. It was $18.99. My friend order the Hot Fruit Tea $8.00.  The tea came in a kettle pot, so it was enough to shared among friends. What I was sadden, they didn’t have Fruit Tea Iced!

It’s a outrageous that they charged you $2 extra for condensed milk. They purposely don’t supply enough, especially if you order the small size. (which isn’t really small at all.) They charged $10 for a small that’s large enough to share with at least 3-4 people. Nonetheless my favorite combo there is strawberries and mango.

In my second visit, I tried the pineapple fried rice which was good, even cuter since it was served in a pineapple. The just fried rice with ham, says its all. It’s literally “just fried rice”. Simple, plain, almost bland. Needs some soy sauce.

The service is inconsistent. It depends which hour you go. You might get the sweetest waiter and another time you might get someone who’s not as friendly.

Overall, it’s a tea house that’ acts like a restaurant. Run by high school students. It’s a nice place to hangout on a Friday night.

The small size is definitely not small at all. The photo does no justice to the size of this bowl. I recommend if you go with another friend just get the to-go size. They bring you bowls and there’s enough condensed milk to go around and it’s cheaper! $7

Not the best popcorn chicken I’ve had, but at least it doesn’t consist of all batter. The medium is quite spicy!

I definitely love the presentation of this. The sweet butter toast is served on a huge plate with chocolate swirls on it. They probably use the same butter spread as other tea shop, but nonetheless I enjoyed the thickness of the bread!

Here is a step by step guide:

Prepare your mixer. The recipe calls for 2 sticks of butter. Make sure you leave it in room temp for at least 30 minutes before hand.

Mix the butter till it’s well-mix.

The recipe calls 3/4 cup of white sugar.

Mix in the white sugar.

Next add 3/4 cup of brown sugar.

It should look like this, after mixing the white and brown sugar together.

Add 2 large eggs.

Afterward, mix in the dry ingredients. (Not shown)

And once you toss it in the oven, it should look like these! The cookies turn well as usual. Next time I have to try a different chocolate chip recipe!

Definitely digging the name of this restaurant. I suppose you can consider this a high end sandwich shop? The prices of the sandwiches range around $9-10 for one. Definitely great sandwiches. I had the breakfast sandwich and the turkey.

I prefer the breakfast over the turkey one since it’s more flavorful and tasty compare to the turkey one. Which was a bit too dry for my taste.

The last day of our summer vacation we were in a rush getting home so we just picked a random place off the freeway to have lunch. We stopped in this plaza and found Little Madfish which sells Japanese food.  it’s Basically,  its your typical “fast-foodish” type Japanese food.

Definitely something that I would never go back for. The food was terrible. Especially the shrimp tempura crunch roll that was extremely disappointing. There was no shrimp in the roll. It was basically california roll battered up with tempura and fried up.

Other things they offered.

Miso soup was not even miso soup.

Combination box was just average.

Another con of this place aside from the prices is the lack of parking space in the area. Since this is lively neighborhood where this restaurant is located at. There are parking venues that are charging $15 all day and that is self-parking.

The lobster rolls itself was tasty, but not great.

We also shared clam chowder.

They supply you with unlimited crackers for your chowder.
